Areas of Practice

Acid Gas Removal

Whether it’s generic or formulated amines, hybrid or physical solvents, we can help you select the most beneficial option through comprehensive lifecycle cost analyses, including consideration for optimization measures such as integration of the gas sweetening unit with downstream sulphur recovery facilities.

Sulphur Recovery

While many sulphur recovery facilities appear to be the same, key differences exist that create unique, often critical design concerns for the plant. We can help you determine the most practical and effective means of tackling challenges such as lean acid gas processing, contaminant destruction and solvent swaps, to address requirements for increasing capacity or recovery efficiency in existing facilities.

Tail Gas Treating

The goal of tail gas treating is to avoid exceeding the SO2 emission regulation while also minimizing lifecycle cost and overall environmental impact, including other pollutants such as CO2. Of the various technology possibilities (sub-dewpoint Claus, tail gas direct-oxidation or amine-based tail gas treating for absorption of H2S or SO2), we can help you select and implement the most cost-effective option that will allow operation safely inside permit limits.

Sulphur Degassing

Due to its toxic and explosive nature, H2S removal from Claus-produced sulphur is essential to accommodate safe handling of the product in downstream facilities. We have experience with all types of sulphur degassing processes and technologies including in-pit, external and elevated pressure systems. We can help you determine the right choice based on process performance, off-gas disposal requirements, plot constraints and cost.

Sulphur Forming & Handling

While elemental sulphur is a byproduct of oil and gas processing, it is also the primary raw feedstock for the sulphuric acid industry - one of the world’s most important chemicals. We can help you select and implement proper forming, handling and transportation design elements throughout every step of the value chain. We can provide confidence that premium product, generated by the forming facility, arrives in the end user’s custody without safety or quality concerns such as acidification or excessive dust formation.

Sour Water Stripping

Various sour water streams produced in oil and gas processing facilities must be treated to remove H2S and NH3 prior to discharge. Although sour water stripping is primarily an open-art endeavor, experience and know-how are essential to ensure robust operation and long plant life. Our experience in areas such as optimized reboiler/overhead configurations, appropriate material selection, and various options for treatment of off-gases will provide the tools you need to manage sour water streams safely and effectively.
